Laccaria Mushroom - Laccaria sp.
Orange-brown cap and stipe. The cap had a unique texture - it felt like a doughnut that had been rolled in granulated sugar. The gills were pinkish and waxy. The mushroom were less than 5 cm tall. Laccaria mushrooms are mycorrhizal and form symbiotic partnerships with trees. This one was growing out of a fallen tree in a swamp.
