
Wood Blewit
Lilac-pink, sticky cap that was approximately 7 cm wide. It was dark pinkish-purple in the middle, and lighter pink around the margin of the cap. The margin was slightly inrolled. Gills were white/lilac and were close/crowded. Stem was lilac and white.
Lepista nuda sends out hyphae into the soil, which penetrate bacterial colonies and kill them by sucking up their nutrients.

Lepista nuda is an edible mushroom, found in both coniferous and deciduous woodlands. It is a fairly distinctive mushroom that is widely eaten, though there is some caution about edibility. Nevertheless, it has been cultivated in Britain, the Netherlands and France.
