Fowler's Toad Fowler&#039;s toad is usually brown, grey, olive green and rust red in color with darkened warty spots. If the toad has a pale stripe on its back it is an adult. The belly is usually uniformly whitish except for one dark spot. The male may be darker in overall color than the female.<br />

Predators of the toad include snakes, birds, and small mammals. It uses defensive coloration to blend into its surroundings, as you can see in these picture! It also secretes a chemical from the warts on its back, which is distasteful to predators and can be lethal to some small mammals. 1. The ID for this toad is Anaxyrus fowleri. I've tried adding the ID (there is a Wikipedia page), but I'm getting an error message. Posted 7 years ago
    1. I tried too but same problem. I also tried the old name of Bufo fowleri and still no joy. It does say at the top of the Wiki page that it needs additional citations for verification. Could this be the problem? In which case...manual??? Posted 7 years ago
      1. Done, created manually. This doesn't happen often, but sometimes there's a Wikipedia page yet it still fails. Main reason is that the process that tries to parse that page, dissecting it into bits we find useful over here, chokes on something unexpected. Hard to solve, since Wikipedia is free-format, not fully structured.

@Christine: sorry, somehow missed your initial comment. If I don't respond for too long, don't hesitate to message me directly. We shall leave no species behind :)
