Cardinal Flower Beautiful, bright red flowers that have three spreading lower petals and two upper petals that are united into a tube at the base. In the past, this was one of the few locations where I could consistently find cardinal flower each summer. Sadly, the abundance gets less each year. This summer, there was only this one plant left growing by this pond. Over picking this gorgeous wildflower has resulted in its scarcity.
