  1. This is not Bactrocera dorsalis, it has more black spots on the wings. There are many similar species and not all the diagnostic characters are visible on this photo so I would not be confident in identifying it at species level. What kind of plant was it on? Do you have any other photo?

  2. Hi Sugianto, I agree with what Wildflower has said above, and just wanted to let you know that I've removed the species ID from this spotting for now. I agree that it looks like Bactrocera sp., but Bactrocera dorsalis, although variable, generally lacks a mid-dorsal stripe and has clear wings. I'm not too familiar with the species in this genus, but will try to help you find the correct ID, if possible. Posted 6 years ago
