Seems to be Caedicia simplex - Common Garden Katydid.
As found in my grape vine, 2 Jan 2018 in Adelaide South Australia.
This one is still small a nymph, there was a larger one as well but this was the better photo.

        Thanks for the photos. I am hesitating about this one for the following reasons:
        - in general nymphs are more difficult to identify than adults
        - there are many species in the genus Caedicia but there aren't references for most of them
        - most of the specimens are identified as Caedicia simplex, some of them looking different compared to others, so I wonder how variable they are and if they are all identified correctly

    Well I'll keep my eyes peeled and with a little luck get a snap when my little katydid grows up - maybe easier then to id! Posted 7 years ago
