  1. We already have two entries for this species with several photos so there is no point in creating a new one. The two subspecies are visually distinct and there are photos of both subspecies mixed so we have to see how to reorganize them - either merge them into one main species enrty or transform them into two subspecies and reidentify the photos accordingly.

      1. Some members and moderators are eager to create entries for supspecies but the tree doesn't have a separate level for that and they are not grouped within the species. There is another discussion about this here.

I would rather prefer the main species entry where all the subspecies are described. It is hard enough to identify at the species level. The more subspecies there are the more mistakes can be made.

In this particular case there are 3 kinds of photos - most of them are clearly Intellagama lesueurii lesueurii, one is Intellagama lesueurii howitti but under the title Eastern Water Dragon which is not correct and there are a few others which are either juveniles for which I am not sure what subspecies they are or there is only a small part of the body which cannot be identified to subspecies level. To accomodate them all we would need 3 entries and I don't think this is a good idea.

        1. Hi WildFlower.
I am in favour of your suggestion . I hope this is correct now.

          1. It should be fixed now - all photos under one ID. Ferdy tells me that you have searched for "lesueurii" in the ID field which was not recognised as an existing entry and has trigerred the addition of a new one from Wikipedia. You should use full binomial names (Intellagama lesueurii) to avoid such mistakes.
Tags can also be used to group the subspecies 3Intellagama lesueurii lesueurii and 1Intellagama lesueurii howitti

The Australian water dragon is the only species of the genus Intellagama which includes the eastern water dragon (I. l. lesueurii) and the Gippsland water dragon (I. l. howittii) subspecies. It is an arboreal agamid species native to eastern Australia from Victoria northwards to Queensland.
