  1. I have no idea, but a very strange sight! Posted 7 years ago
  2. Difficult to say without a shot of the gills. Do you have any photos of the underside, Mike ? Posted 7 years ago
    1. No, this is the only picture I have of it. Posted 7 years ago

  4. I hope you don't mind me saying this but to help with identification we need a shot of the underside - you could use a mirror and angle it so you get the underside and the top of the stem as well as the top of the mushroom in the one photo. It is also important to note where it was growing ( from the ground or on wood) and if under a tree, the kind of tree. You could describe anything else related that might help. This is mushroom season for you all in the Northern Hemisphere, I hope you find many interesting ones and I look forward to seeing them here on JD ! Good Luck !! Posted 7 years ago
    1. Really great tips, Leuba! For some, including me, it's easy to forget to take different angles since we're not used to it for other categories of life. Posted 7 years ago
    2. Great tip Leuba, you see something so strange but you do not think to take it from a different angle. Posted 7 years ago
      1. Learnt that from a fungi expert. Until then I was always kneeling down or squatting on damp sodden soil amongst leech infested grass ! Using a mirror has made it a lot easier. Posted 7 years ago
  5. It looks like a Lactarius species of some sort, but I have to agree that a gill shot would have made it easier to confirm it! Posted 6 years ago
