    1. Yes I discovered it as well on this trip. I was hoping to get to Campeche, which has another species, but just didn't have the time. And indeed, while the adults noisily ran away in typical basilisk fashion, the juveniles, of which I saw of few, relied much more on their camouflage, and I always found them by nearly stepping on them.
      But they were even more placid than Anoles, and I could usually pick them up by just slowly bringing my hand in front of them, and then under their feet, and they would spontaneously climb onto my palm!

      1. That's funny, I too discovered how approachable they are a few weeks ago in Colombia. Dozens of western basilisks were constantly running around our lodge. Although thought of them as elusive species, definitely not the case. Posted 7 years ago
