guapote y garzas

egrets laughing at a guapote (Parachromis managuensis) who jumps out of shallow water in the mouth of Rio Chiquito after the devastating rain.

I am not even trying an ID, so that those who usually come down at me like vultures can work it out for themselves. I am a mechanic and very fond of nature, not a biologist who can ID a fish from 15000 kms away.

    I am not so sure about the Parachromis managuensis. The fins and tail look different to me. I would rather identify the egrets. Posted 7 years ago

      thank you well it is a guapote..and a big one at that, all the locals who have been fishing here for years and years are sure of it. Which guapote I leave to the experts. It was wikipedia who says Parachromis but never mind.. I was more interested in his performance Posted 7 years ago

The Great egret

The great egret also known as common egret, large egret or great white heron, is a large, widely distributed egret. Distributed across most of the tropical and warmer temperate regions of the world, in southern Europe it is rather localized.
