  1. Howdy,
    I don't know the first thing about flies, let alone from India, so this may be well off (!) but the habitus reminds me of Stiletto Flies (Therevidae). Maybe have a look at this document and see if it helps?:

      1. Ohw duh ... I considered Bombyliidae, but didn't see the proboscis. Looking at the image again this is in fact quite stunning ... how did I _not_ see that ?!? *roolleyes* Cheers, Arp Posted 8 years ago
