Orange Ladybird ready for takeoff
As I was chasing this orange ladybird through the forest, it kept flying away. It's interesting to see their ritual before doing so. They stretch their legs to lift their body, unfold the outer shield to release their wings, start their "engine" and then take off. The process takes 2 or 3 seconds at a minimum each time.

"Halyzia sedecimguttata" is a species of Coccinellidae, also known as ladybird. Common in woodlands, both larvae and adults feed mainly on mildew and occasionally on small aphids. Their physical appearance is marked by a striking orange colour and the presence of usually 16 creamy white spots.
