Orange Ladybird

Halyzia sedecimguttata

"Halyzia sedecimguttata" is a species of Coccinellidae, also known as ladybird. Common in woodlands, both larvae and adults feed mainly on mildew and occasionally on small aphids. Their physical appearance is marked by a striking orange colour and the presence of usually 16 creamy white spots.

Distribution

Formerly uncommon, the species has established itself over the 20th century and is now common in many parts of Europe and the British Isles.
