The definition of cute - Eastern Lesser Bamboo Lemur OK, this one was photographed suring our visit to Lemur island, where the lemurs, although not in cages, cannot leave the island. Having said that, for close encounters of the lemur kind - this place is hard to beat. One ruffed lemur jumprd onto my shoulder and promptly urinated. The locals thought it was really funny and tried, rather half-heartedly, to convince me that it was considered good luck among the Malagasy. They are vertical climbers and jump from stalk to stalk in thick bamboo forests.
