Fun fact: the family of ant birds is named after behavior seem in some of the species where they actively follow ant colonies as the ants leave their nest to go on a killing spree, the bird picking up some of the spoils of war. Some antshrikes are elusive and hard to find, hence ants are a helpful tool in trying to find them. The Amazonian antshrike is a species of bird in the family Thamnophilidae, the antbirds. It occurs in the Amazon Basin of Brazil, and east to Maranhão state; also Amazonian Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. It is in the Guianas in Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana, also two regions of Venezuela.
