Small leafrobber The shape of this robber fly looks more like a wasp. I think it is shaped nicely.
I am always impressed by the ability of robber flies to catch insects in flight. For me this means their insect senses are less crude then I expected. Although I am sure nature has found some very simple logic which yields good results like 'fly towards the buzzing sound'.
1. Superb full body view, excellent depth of field. Promoted.

    Did you use a tripod?

    1. No. For macro I don't use a tripod (yet). Normally for macro I increase the iso to 400 to enable a bit smaller aperture (higher value) but I see I haven't done that this time.

This fly was sitting on a hedge next to a walking path. People passing by where looking strange at me because I was focusing my camera in the hedge ;)

      1. Haha, yes I get that a lot too. Especially when I use a tripod in the bushes. Posted 13 years ago
  2. Nice composition! At Genneper Parken? Posted 13 years ago
