  1. Hi Albert,
Nice to see some images of Asian Harvestmen even if I have never gotten around to identifying (m)any from that area :o)
The Harvestman could never ever "ambush" this spider and win. Looking closely I would say that this is probably the cast off skin (exuviae) that the spider left after moulting and that makes for a very good meal with lots of useful chitin and what have you. Harvestmen are scavengers most of the time, with some smaller life victims when opportunity serves ...

    1. Thanks for your detailed observations, Pudding4brains and you are most likely correct.
I was surprised and wondering how this Harvestman was able to catch a Spider, so your observations make sense :)

      1. Only just noticed, but the two little red blobs on the legs are probably larvae of some mite and in this case these would be parasites (but not parasitoids - they will drop off when ready for their next development stage, much like a tick on mamals)
        Cheers, Arp

        1. Thanks again, Arp for your further observations.
Yes, I am aware of the red blobs which to me, I always thought as parasites. Have a picture of a different Harvestman with more of them. I also usually observes a lot of them on Stick Insects/Phasmids.
