Longhorn Beetles with Parasites

This is the same Longhorn Beetle as in previous Spotting.
Close-up picture of it shows it has lots of parasites all over its body, head and antenna!

In Europe the mites on beetles that look like these would purely be phoretic, just hitching a ride to greener pastures - even if most species doing so would be classified in the "Parasitica" taxonomically they would not be true parasites. Posted 8 years ago
