Ctenolepisma longicaudatum Spaansepolder

Positively HUGE Ctenolepisma longicaudatum found "outside" under a flyover - rather dark, cold and nasty place, whereas these are basically known only from inside human buildings ... stunning observation to me.

  I would be (very) tempted to yell a bigger number (relatively large specimen tend to call for over-estimation it would seem), but knowing that this one must realistically have been going on 20mm body length (I would have yelled 25-30mm off hand ;o) I hardly ever see them longer than around 15mm. This one got away, but I caught a much, much smaller one at the same location and that one was 12mm ... Posted 8 years ago
