      1. Yes - liverworts are a really old plant family, related to mosses. There's a good, if kind of technical, wiki page for them - Marchantiophyta https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marchantiophyta . Cladonia is a lichen genus. Lichens are strange ones - they are composite organisms made up of algae and/or cyanobacteria living among filaments of a fungus in a symbiotic relationship.
