  1. Interesting, any idea what the function of the tuft is? Sexual selection? Posted 8 years ago
  2. It will be my guess that the tufts are like brushes. When tucked alongside the body, they would reach anal glands which produce pheromones for attracting partners. Scent gland occur on some butterflies such as male monarch butterflies. I cannot verify this theory. If it is a sexual display, I would expect tufts on more distal antenomeres. Posted 8 years ago
