Black-and-Red Stick Insect - Female
This is a female Phasmid of the species Orthomeria kangi, newly described in February 2016 and named after me.
The female of this species and other species under the genus of Orthomeria has shortened wings and are not capable of flights. The distinctive feature of this species is the red wings. The body is almost all black although brown variations have been seen before, but not often.

Orthomeria kangi is a species of stick insect from the family of Aschiphasmatidae that was first described in February 2016.
Orthomeria (O.) kangi is readily distinguished from all other congeners by the distinctive blood red colouration of the costal region of the hind wings.
