Chocolate Stick This is a female Phasmid of the species Orthomeria pandora.
She is mostly all brown in colour except for a lighter band on the second last segment of her abdomen.
Her wings are shortened, thus not capable of flight. The Male of this species has full wings and is capable of short flights.
The genus Orthomeria is under the family of Aschiphasmatidae, where the species from them are known to have glands behind the head and is capable of spraying as a defensive mechanism. This spray can be irritating to the human eyes, but could probably be more potent against other smaller (compared to humans) predators like frogs, lizards and birds.
