Stick Insect, Phasmid - Hennemannia alveare
This is a female Phasmid of the species Hennemannia alveare.
It is a newly described species in May 2016 and the genus name is newly erected in honour of Frank Hennemann, a Phasmidologist from Germany. The species name - alveare refers to the similarity of the appendages above her head, which looks like a bee-hive, relating to the bee-hive hair style of the 1960s.
She is small in size, around 4cm.

By the way, I made a spelling error when I made the species ID. It should be Hennemannia alveare and not Hennemania alveare. Sorry for the typo error. Posted 8 years ago
