Emperor Cicada I know this picture is a bit ridiculous, there were many of them that were attracted by the light of the room I was staying at Similajau National Park. Besides this Emperor Cicada, there were at least 3 other varieties of Cicada, loads of them, attracted by the light.

Most of them died by the next day, not sure the reason why. Those that didn't die, they were swept and discarded by the housekeeping staff who came to clean outside the room as there were too many insects, mostly moths and cicadas but also Praying Mantis.
In this picture of 4 of them, can see the variation in the green and yellow band on their thorax. Emperor Cicada,Geotagged,Malaysia,Sarawak,Summer,Tacua speciosa Click/tap to enlarge

1. Yes, I remember the first time I saw this Emperor Cicada 2 years ago, I was so excited.
And now seeing so many of them just outside my room is like surreal!

1. Macro is my favorite style of photography, problem is, there's not that much interesting to photograph in the Netherlands as it comes to insects, compared to Malaysia. I envy you! Posted 9 years ago
1. Not only Malaysia, but also Philippines.
There are lots of insects too.
Will be happy to show you around in Philippines, aside from Malaysia if you do come back/over here :D
