Spider with no legs (?) This Spider was seen among the ants from my previous Spotting.<br /> Was trying to figure out this Spider, as it doesn&#039;t moves and from the picture, it looks like it doesn&#039;t has any legs?<br /> Am wondering if this Spider was captured by the Ants as food, and that the legs were &#039;cut&#039; off to prevent it from escaping? Spider with no legs (?)

This Spider was seen among the ants from my previous Spotting.
Was trying to figure out this Spider, as it doesn't moves and from the picture, it looks like it doesn't has any legs?
Am wondering if this Spider was captured by the Ants as food, and that the legs were 'cut' off to prevent it from escaping?

      Yes, I would think so.
      I couldn't think of any other explanation or reasons and can't seem to see any 'legs' on the spider even when zoomed in.
      Are you familiar with any documented records of this kind of behaviours by the ants?       Posted 9 years ago

        I've definitely seen it in some nature documentaries where large insects are taken apart by ants. I don't recall seeing this happening when the prey is still alive though. Posted 9 years ago

          This Spider does looks like it is alive, in fact, there were 2 of them, the other was smaller and same situation, no legs.           Posted 9 years ago
