JungleDragon now has 10,000 species!
The above image marks a historic milestone we as a community have accomplished at JungleDragon. Despite our small size, with dedication and a warm community we have managed to collect a whopping 10,000 species.
The above image is quite special. It actually shows all these 10,000 species. It is a grid of 100 x 100 species. Each thumbnail is 100 x 100 pixels, making the original an enormous 100MP image.
This is what we have created, together, and it is fabulous. We have achieved a critical mass in our content base that is to be taken seriously. Another perspective on what we have done is visualized in this animation which shows how slowly but surely our green is spreading through the world:
All of this is the result of your green hearts, of which I'm very proud. As a special gift to celebrate this milestone, I'm offering the above image in its true size upon request. Believe me, it is quite amazing to deeply zoom into it. Just send me a direct message, and I'll share the download location.

Draco viridis is the nickname of the JungleDragon, refering to the green lizard that serves as a mascotte of the JungleDragon site. The JungleDragon is not a real species, yet it is largely based on a real species: the Emerald Basilisk.
