1. What a terrifying yet beautiful creature. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of those sharp teeth. Posted 9 years ago
1. Whilst not look-a-likes, it instantly reminded me of this:

Whitemargin Stargazer Seen in Cabilao, Philippines (2012). Photo by Mark Bockstael (my husband).
..A monster from the abyss... It can grow to 27 cm(10 3/4 in.). White to pale gray with reddish brown to charcoal spots, also blotches and reticulations. Large rounded head with upturned mouth. Small eyes. It typically buries on the sand with only the eyes and the mouth exposed and ambushes its prey camouflaged in this way.
Habitat: Solitary, bury in sand. Coastal waters in 5 to at least 50 m. Asian Pacific. Fall,Geotagged,Philippines,Uranoscopus sulphureus,Whitemargin stargazer

1. Star Gazer are cool animal too, a fish, whereas this is a worm.
Like the Star Gazer, the Bobbit Worm is an ambush predator.

2. Yes, terrifying but a favourite among underwater macro photographers. We seldom see them completely outside the sand, just 10-15cm but they were reported to grow up to 3 meters in length. Posted 9 years ago
2. Albert: could you help me find an ID for these?
Many thanks in advance!
