..A monster from the abyss... It can grow to 27 cm(10 3/4 in.). White to pale gray with reddish brown to charcoal spots, also blotches and reticulations. Large rounded head with upturned mouth. Small eyes. It typically buries on the sand with only the eyes and the mouth exposed and ambushes its prey camouflaged in this way.
Habitat: Solitary, bury in sand. Coastal waters in 5 to at least 50 m. Asian Pacific.
Whitemargin stargazer is a fish of family Uranoscopidae, widespread in the Indopacific: Red Sea, Indonesia, Fiji, Samoa, and Tonga. Marine reef-associated fish, up to 45.0 cm maximal length.
