  1. Superb species intro! I had no idea there were chameleons in that part of the world. Posted 9 years ago
    1. Well the Mediterranean chameleon is even found in southern Spain! I've yet to see them, though... Posted 9 years ago
  2. It was so funny. We saw this guy crossing the road, and stopped the car to make sure he made it safely. He was very much in a hurry to get somewhere, and walked quickly ahead of us, rendering our task of getting a good photo quite difficult. But then, it saw a trunk, and surely though : Perfect, I'll climb up this tree and lose my pursuers! Except it was a shrub, barely a meter tall, and by the time it realized its mistake, it was too late. Posted 9 years ago
    1. Well played :) In my experience (from Madagascar) even when you have them in such a corner, then still they can ruin your shot by simply mirroring you, like this:

Malagasy Giant Chameleon - shy This specie is best renamed to Malagasy SHY Chameleon. Between me and the chameleon was a ridge of rocks that blocked me from getting closer. Since the chameleon was on the back of this branch, I tried repeatedly to approach it from a different angle for a side shot, but every time I did so, it would mirror my move exactly so that it was always facing me as on this photo. This ritual dance continued for several minutes, until I gave up. Well played, Mr Oustalet! Anja Reserve,Furcifer oustaleti,Geotagged,Madagascar,Malagasy Giant Chameleon
