Something moved by my feet in the grass that was a few feet high - upon closer inspection I found this little beauty pretending to be a blade of grass. European Mantis,Geotagged,Greece,Mantis religiosa,Summer" /></a></figure> I went back to the shop by the holiday apartment to find this little mantis outside the shop waiting for me! It was nice enough to allow me to pick it up - cleaned itself while I held it in my hand and then I moved it out of harms way as I didn&#039;t want it to get stood on. After hearing the night before that there were 2 types of mantis where I was staying, I felt rather lucky that I&#039;d seen both and managed to capture them in their natural habitat. Mantis in the grass Got up early one morning to go for a walk in the fields - I'd read the night before that there were 'Green' & 'White' mantis species in Corfu - Thought I would go out looking for them. "Mantis religiosa", referred to as the European Mantis outside of Europe and known simply as the Praying Mantis in Europe and elsewhere, is one of the most well-known and widespread species of the order Mantodea.
