The humble ant surveying its domain
I think this is a carpenter ant, I based that on its relative size and the shape off its antennae. There isn't a very wide variety of ants in Massachusetts. I happened to find this little guy on a brief jaunt of the beaten path at Mass Audubon's sanctuary in the city, Broad Meadow Brook. I couldn't get a close up shot of him, as is usually my style, because all I had was my 55-210mm zoom lens but I am still happy with how this turned out. I love the little things in life but sometimes its good to look at the bigger picture. This was taken back in April 2016 around sunset on my Sony a6 mirrorless camera.
