  1. Beautiful. The odd couple.
Are their pronotums on crooked or is it their faces. :)
If you put this in before the larva it would come up on the ID.

  2. It looks like both for the red beetle, she's about to start running off.

Why does not the earlier beetle come up in the ID position?

    1. The earliest gets the introduction but the ID position is somehow calculated based on karma and it can change according to that. Posted 9 years ago
      1. You are correct. To elaborate and fully explain:

        - The species intro (marked by the blue sign) is awarded to the FIRST photo on the site of that species. This is related to the post date, not the identification date.

        - The species cover photo (the photo you see in the species box and in the species browser) is the photo of that species having the most karma, and can indeed change any time.

        1. Thanks for the explanation, as the larvae was indeed the last representative to be uploaded. In order to be featured, it seems the adult needs to be beautiful and the larvae must be butt-ugly. This is usually the case for coleoptera but not for some lepidoptera. Posted 9 years ago
          1. Hehe. Yes, in this case the photo of the larvae has more karma than the other photos of this species. Karma is earned in many ways: votes, comments, resolution of the photo, etc. Posted 9 years ago
  3. Pretty colouring impressive Beetles, larvae has an unusual long tail Posted 9 years ago
