I feel that professional entomology should be helping more.
A had a heated discussion (web) with a lettered entomologist. His response was, "Do you know who you are talking to"! So involved with his passion that he forgot his name - sad.

Professional entomologists are going to spend most of their time under a microscope and won't be able to spend the field time that they would like. As an unpaid amateur, I don't have the technical knowledge, but I can go out and observe throughout the season. I am even considering a two year trip to Sulawesi starting next year, living in kampung conditions for bug photography.
If the world of entomology realized how many people, like me, with a keen amateur interest, are available for use. With proper co-operation, we could all learn a little more. Without direction, I will collect my photographs and be happy enough, but what a waste of a resource.
