Compsocryptus sp. Location is Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Alongside a stream and paddy fields.<br />

I thought hard about the length and understand how these things get exaggerated, but I saw little point to under stating the length. The above quote is what I believe to be the length.<br />
<br />
The Ichneumon looking wasp landed on the path in open view. I got down and dirty on my belly and started the approach. I know I should have taken an early shot for the can, but elected to get closer first. A huge mistake that I am unlikely ever to make again.<br />
<br />
The wasp was collecting bugs in the paddy field and returning to the far side of the stream bank. I tried searching at the paddy, but could not find the wasp. The only opportunity for an image was on the far side of the stream, under heavy tree cover, very poor light and 30&rsquo; distance. Even with the 105mm lens, it was way too far.<br />
<br />
The two best images are very poor, blown up from a virtual spec, pushed and pulled to extract an image, to give you a closer look.<br />
<br />
A guy in Singapore managed an image, but did not have an ID. He estimated the length at &lsquo;a few inches&rsquo;, so I think it is the same species.<br />
