Darth Vader sp.
For a long time, I was convinced that this was a cicada, but it wasn’t quite right. Doing additional research for this post, I discovered that a distinct possibility was a lantern bug, which do not always have that strange snout at the front. The eyes were a better match and the front profile still worked.
You would think that having genus and such distinctive shiny black body and bright red legs, that an ID was inevitable. The closest that I got was Darth Vader, but he did not have the red legs unfortunately.
Update - Cercopidae sp. is currently favorite, possibly Ectemnonotum atrum.
Location is Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Alongside a stream and paddy fields.

The Cosmos has a textured thorax plate, and this put me off.
The Ectemnonotum atrum is a very good fit. The dried legs look like they could have been red, there is a hint there. I have renamed my folder, as I am happy with that. If you are happy, put it up or tell me to put it up.
Good work, thanks :)
