It is unexpected to find Boas at all in Madagascar, since their &quot;relatives&quot; are in the southern pacific and the Amazon, not even close to Madagascar.<br />

Fun fact: for this closeup, I told the guide to remove the grass in front of the face of the Boa that was blocking my view. As he obediently was on his way to do so, I had to make clear that I was kidding. Malagasy ground boa - full body view, Amber Mountain, Madagascar Found along the side of the path. The guide knows the location of its nest so he tends to find the snake every day within minutes, it usually isn't far. This is the largest out of 80 snakes known to occur in Madagascar. ''Acrantophis madagascariensis'' is a species of boid snake in the subfamily Sanziniinae that is endemic to the island of Madagascar. Its common names include Malagasy ground boa and Madagascar boa.
