
Bark Cockroach -Male (Laxta granicollis)
An Australian native, this reddish brown very flat cockroach was about 25 mm long. The wings had a beautiful venation. The thoracic "shield" had a semi-lunar anterior margin which was slightly paler in colour.
The females are wingless and look like trilobites. as can be seen here.
These cockroaches live in colonies and feed on wood fibre.

"Laxta granicollis", the bark cockroach, is a species of Blaberidae that occurs in Australia. The female of this species lacks wings while the male is winged.
