Small sagebrush community bush

I'm not sure if this is sagebrush or not, but it is similar and grows under similar conditions. It is however, very small, a little natural bonsai.

  now if I could just figure out what it is…. most of the plant guides kind of ignore things that don't have some sort of pretty flower… These little guys seem to have very specific growing needs. They were not wide spread, there was one small patch that was absolutely covered with them. Nothing tall at all was growing in that area, just these very small (probably no bigger than about 8-9 inches tall) , but fairly old looking shrubs. Posted 9 years ago

      No worries - I never give up and I've a fairly good memory for things I've looked for in the past. There's been more than once that I found something in a old photo as I've searched for something in a new one. I used to have a botanical garden message board to ask for plant ID's on, but it shut down. I'll have to see if I can find a new resource. Update - I'm getting an idea that this might be a wild buckwheat, it will get flowers, but probably not until a few weeks from now. Posted 9 years ago, modified 9 years ago
