It seems a mis-spell is propagating through the web. You have requested creation of 'Hesperus apicialis' which occurs 207 times on Goog search where 'Hesperus apicalis' occurs 21.4k times. I suspect the latter is correct. What do you think? Where did you get your suggested ID?

Looking through some of the search results, I found this:
http://bugguide.net/node/view/258295
Adam Brunke says the species was incorrectly referred to as the Hesperus apicalis until recently, which would explain why BugGuide has the "apicialis" spelling even though "apicalis" is more common elsewhere on the web.
I have absolutely no expertise in the area though, so I can't say for sure which is really the correct version. Posted 9 years ago
Apicalis is certainly far more in line with so many other biological names.... and that's what so many 'official' taxonomies like EOL have... Certainly the original description and nomenclature seems to be "Hesperus apicialis (Say, 1830)"
We'll need to chew on this one a bit more. Thanks. Posted 9 years ago
