    1. You seem to know the species ID, why did you not identify it? Did you have a problem/error? Posted 3 years ago
  1. I did get an error message, and found it strange. I may have done something totally foolish. Sorry for the cunfussion Posted 3 years ago
    1. As you have pointed out in the first link Vernonia cognata is a synonym of Chrysolaena platensis. There is no Wikipedia entry for either of them that's why you get an error. I created an entry in the database. Posted 3 years ago
      1. Sorry for adding unnecessary burdens to your already busy lives. Widlflower, I shall pay close attention to the guidelines. Many thanks. Posted 3 years ago
        1. No worries, Tito, we are here to help and for new members the species process is not intuitive from the start, so here's a quick summary:

          - You identify the species from the dialog like you did before. 90% of the time that works. What actually happens is that JungleDragon will look on english wikipedia for a species page by that name, and then use the information found there.

          - On the next identification of the same species, JungleDragon will already know it, so it is instant.

          - In 10% of cases (roughly), you get the error. In that case no Wikipedia page exists for that species name. This can be due to it really not existing, a typo in the name, etc. In that case, JungleDragon cannot match it and throws the error. If that happens, we have to create the record manually, just like @Wildflower did. You can actually request such manual creation yourself, it is under the "advanced" toggle in the dialog. Our moderators will then get a notification and will create it for you.

Sounds complex, but it comes to this: just type it in, which usually works. If not, use the "request manual creation" option. I hope this helps.

          2. On another note, I must congratulate you for such an interesting and inspiring project as JungleDragon. I've noticed great contributions by very learned people. I hope not to interfere with there work in anyway. Posted 3 years ago
