  3. Hi there, Lovely picture! It looks very similar to Messor aciculatus. Do you know the approximate size of it?

    Definitely Messor though :)

      1. It's possible it's Messor Aciculatus then as the Queens are 10mm in size and shiny black. I'm going off the fact that the ant above is quite well built and stocky, therefore even though it has wings, I don't think it is a male/drone. For ant identification, I tend to make the following site my first port of call:
