Not Exciting... This was not an exciting find but the smallest subject that I could find on a wet morning. Cryptomastix germana not known to JungleDragon but this was about .15mm round. I couldn't take multiple shots to stack focus at 1:1 so I had to use a flash and f20 to get enough in focus to be fairly happy with the results. 1. I don't know about not exciting - I like snails and it's a pretty nifty purple color. Don't think it's a C. germana though. From what I could see those have hairy shells even as adults. Snails and slugs are another one of those difficult things that sometimes you need to peep at their sex organs with a microscope to tell what they are... Posted 9 years ago
    1. You are absolutely correct. I did look in more depth after I posted. After further investigation I am pretty confident that it is a Aegopinella nitidula. Images are identical and although we are a bit south of the Canadian border I think it is reasonable that they exist here. I would be interested in your take. Thanks, Steve Posted 9 years ago
      1. Looks pretty similar to me - and seems that this snail has been pretty widely introduced to the US, so I'd say it's a good bet. Posted 9 years ago
  2. Very exciting actually, great photo, and an interesting species! Posted 9 years ago
