    1. What a wonderful picture! I believe it is some species of Honeypot Ant. They range in colour from amber to almost black but the stomach is the same, partially transparent and the specific honeypot ants that are used as a food store (the "repletes") have their stomachs extended to a huge amount to feed their sisters during hard times. Here's an interesting image of them (I take no credit for the taking of the picture - taken from the smithsonianmag.com website on the "Public Media" area.)
