Made a new friend Was out walking this afternoon when this little lady landed on my jeans as I was eating an ice cream. I finished the ice cream and expected her to fly off - she didn&#039;t. As she was crawling up my leg cleaning herself, I let her walk on my hand. Was out walking this afternoon when this little lady landed on my jeans as I was eating an ice cream. I finished the ice cream and expected her to fly off - she didn't. As she was crawling up my leg cleaning herself, I let her walk on my hand. She stayed there for a while before eventually walking off onto a leaf (with a little persuasion!)

    Psithyrus has now been reduced to a sub-genus within Bombus. There is an entry in Wikipedia for Bombus barbutellus, but I am not sure it is the right one for this bee. Posted 9 years ago

      Beautiful Bee!

      It closely resembles "Buff-tailed Bumblebees" (Bombus Terrestris).

        Bombus lucorum is very similar to Bombus terrestris.
