  1. I don't think this is Polistes fuscatus or a paper wasp at all. The abdomen is much smaller, more round and the connection to the thorax is very thin. Paper wasps are more robust.

  2. I agree with Wildflower on this one, also lacking any stripes that I can see. Possibly Isodontia mexicana???

    1. I agree about the genus, I was just looking at them myself, but mexicana has very pale wings so it is probably not the one. I am more in favour of apicalis, but they are similar and it is hard to tell the difference from this photo. Posted 10 years ago
