  1. I think it could be in the fam Buprestidae, but I cannot find a match.
Any idea what kind of plant it is on?

    1. Thank you. Sorry, I have no idea what plant it is. It had long, firm leafs, that's all I know. Posted 10 years ago
      1. I have a better match - fam Mordellidae, possibly genus Glipa.
Do you have other photos - side, top, tail view?

        1. Sorry, no, only out of focus ruined shots from the same angle. I was rushed when I took this one, both the guide and Henriette found me to be to slow on the path, stopping at every insect :)

Family Mordellidae does help though, I didn't even know a high level classification for this one.

        2. Update: I actually did find a sideview. It's misfocused so I won't share it here, but I will email it to you instead. Posted 10 years ago
          1. It is not much better, but at least it confirms the above ID. I am not sure if we would be able to go beyond the genus though, there are many species and little information about them.

            1. Then we will leave this one partially identified. Thanks once again, I updated the title and description. Posted 10 years ago
  2. The markings seem to match Glipa malaccana. No definite records of it in Sri Lanka, though.

    1. Interesting genus. I checked the individual species and they all seem so land-locked to a specific country. Pretty strange. Will leave this at genus for now, thank you. Posted 2 years ago
      1. Sounds good. Each species seems so specific to a location, like you said. I wonder if Sri Lanka has a yet-to-be-documented species, a ssp., or is just the same species. Maybe we will find out in another 7 years or so, ;P Posted 2 years ago
        1. Yes lol, let's meet again. Posted 2 years ago
          1. Great! I'm sure we'll both remember. Posted 2 years ago
