  1. Amazing atmosphere in this photo!

Note that "fern" is not specific enough for a species identification, as there are many types.

    1. Thanks Ferdy! Yes it came up with many types and none seemed to fit. I googled Fern but didn't give a specific name for this type. Posted 10 years ago
  2. Fantastic shot. Love the comp!! Posted 10 years ago
    1. Thanks Stephen :) Posted 10 years ago
  3. Hard to tell the spider from this photo, but I am going to hazard a guess at a Yellow Sac spider Cheiracanthium inclusum. Just a guess! Posted 10 years ago
    1. The species you suggest is an American one, not likely to be found in the UK. The European yellow sac spider Cheiracanthium punctorium is about 15 mm long and it has some serious jaws which are not visible here. This one also looks much smaller. Posted 10 years ago
      1. Quite right but it was a quick guess. Definitely not C. punctorium but could be C. mildei (Northern yellow).
Impossible though to correctly identify from this photo unfortunately and also impossible to gauge size as the brackens in the UK vary enormously size wise.

  4. Yes the spider is out of focus...as i mentioned in the description he just came in to the frame as i was focused on the fern and then he scurried in to the fern. I can tell you that the abdomen was only 1 or 2mm wide as i made a mental note of that. Really interesting to hear your suggestions. That is what i love about this site...always learning :) Posted 10 years ago, modified 10 years ago
  5. The fern looks like bracken fern. Posted 10 years ago
