    My apologies- This is poorly composed and over exposed. I was playing with my dogs and this guy was BIG-- He buzzed my head and scared the crap out of me. This was a kind of 'shoot from the hip' photo.

      It looks like a red paper wasp. It could be either Polistes carolina or another similar species.
