  1. This is some kind of comma - Polygonia sp., not a tortoiseshell. You can clearly see the comma-like white spot on this view.

The Green Comma is a butterfly of the Nymphalidae family. It is found in North America.

The wingspan is 45–64 mm. The butterfly flies from May to September depending on the location.

The larvae feed on Upland Willow , ''Betula lenta'', Alder, ''Rhododendron occidentale'', and ''Ribes'' species.
